Hydroponics System

Semi-Automated Hydroponics System

The hydroponics system allows the user to grow up to nine plants using nine liters of water in the bucket reservoir. The light and aerator will cycle automatically and be on for eight hours a day, and the user can choose any type of liquid fertilizer they like. In addition, there are sensors attached to the Arduino that measure various elements of the environment the plants are growing in, such as the amount of light the plants are receiving, the temperature they are growing in, and the ph level of the water. This data is then sent to Thingspeak for processing and charting, which can then be presented to the user through our website and app. Lastly, we can also provide email alerts to the user about any abnormal data collected by the sensors through the Thingspeak and IFTTT services. The entire system consumes 31W of power and costs an average of 89 cents per month to operate given average US electricity rates
